U19 Girls NorCal NPL Fall Showcase Preview
NPL 1A
In a division in which a game still needs to be made up, leaders Davis Legacy (4-0-1) have the easiest pathway into the Champions League, needing just a win Saturday against Placer United and a result Sunday against third-place San Juan to qualify for one of the two spots at stake. Just behind the Legacy are Blues FC (4-1-0), who are also likely to qualify for the Champions League thanks to having two games in hand on San Juan. FC Elk Grove and Placer cannot qualify for the Champions League.
NPL 1B
Thanks to a big win Wednesday from Palo Alto 99 (18 points) over the California Thorns (9 points), the former squad clinched a spot in the spring’s Champions League in an impressive season that saw them score 28 goals and allow just seven thus far. That being said, Mustang SC 01 currently enjoy the spot at the top of the table, having gone 5-1-1 — their only loss coming in a 5-1 defeat against Palo Alto. Rounding out the top three, who are in position to qualify for the Champions League, is MVLA ECNL, who have allowed just six goals in a 4-1-1 start.
NPL 1C
Mustang SC 99/00 (5-0-1) currently enjoys a three-point lead in the NPL 1C, but has yet to actually wrap up a Champions League berth because of how competitive the top part of the division is. Sitting just behind Mustang 99/00 are 4-1-1 Santa Clara Sporting 99 and Diablo FC, who comprise the current list of Champions League qualifiers. But there’s a lot of soccer left to play and Clovis Crossfire and Pleasanton Rage can count themselves among those with realistic shots to qualify if they have a good weekend.
NPL 2 East
While there are still multiple games to be played in the NPL 2 East, South Valley United have wrapped up the division and the only spring NPL 1 spot that comes with it thanks to a perfect 5-0-0 record. 4-2-1 Sacramento United are in a good position to finish in second place and as the sole spring NPL 2 qualifier, but could miss out if Monarcas Academy wins both of their games this weekend.
NPL 2 East Schedules and Results
NPL 2 West
Though there’s still one makeup game to be played in this division, the title has been decided thanks to Tahuichi’s 4-0-2 record, which included a 4-1 victory over second place Santa Cruz. Even if Tahuichi loses to San Ramon FC, the championship is theirs. Meanwhile, Santa Cruz qualified for the NPL 2 in the spring and every other team in the division will head into the NPL 3.
