NPL 1 A PREVIEW

Three teams enter the final two match days of the season tied on 16 points with only two Champions League spots up for grabs in the U19 Women’s NPL 1 A. Of the three tied — Central California Soccer All I, Davis Legacy Red and Marin FC Blue — Central California and Davis have the easier schedule on paper as they both place against pointless Sacramento United. Looking to stop Davis will be 13-point Placer United Gold, the only other squad with a realistic chance of earning a top-2 finish, when the pair face off Sunday.

NPL 1 B PREVIEW

Davis Legacy 98 Red have already wrapped up the U19 Women’s NPL 1 B title, but the league’s second Champions League spot still remains up for contention between four different teams. Placer United Gold (13 points) control their own destiny for the spot with games against fellow contender Diablo FC NPL (8 points) and last-place Palo Alto SC Green Power (4 points). Looking to play spoiler for Placer will be either Blues FC NPL (12 points) or Santa Clara Sporting (8 points), who face each other to open the action Saturday.

NPL 1 C PREVIEW

Only one of the four Champions League places have been accounted for in the U19 Women’s NPL 1 C with 17-point Mustang SC NPL Academy now looking to clinch the league title this weekend. As teams two through seven in the table are separated by just six points, it’s likely that the last three Champions League qualifiers won’t be known until the final whistles blow Sunday. Saturday’s match-up between second-place West Coast Soccer (15 points) and third-place PSV Union FC (13 points) will go a long way to determining the league’s finishing order with De Anza Force (13 points) and Santa Clara Sporting (10 points) also expected to contend for CL spots.

NPL 2 EAST PREVIEW

MVLA Leicester City ECNL enter this weekend with a three-point lead over second place Walnut Creek Blue, but what makes matters interesting is the game in hand that Walnut Creek have on MVLA. Should the pair finish tied on points though, MVLA will advance to the NPL 1 thanks to a 2-1 win in September that gives MVLA the first tiebreaker between the two teams. There are many matches to look for this weekend as five squads will still contend for the second and third places that will grant them NPL 2 status for the spring.

NPL 2 WEST PREVIEW

As the bottom four of this five-team division will qualify for the NPL 3, the U19 Women’s NPL 2 West appears to be all-but wrapped up heading into the final matchday. Mustang SC NPL Academy needs just a point Saturday against second-place California Magic to clinch the title and NPL 1 status, but should they fall, they will still need just a draw in their Sunday match against fourth-place Santa Cruz Breakers to accomplish this.
