NPL Matchday #6

Fall is finally upon us and with the first weekend of October comes NPL Matchday #6. All across the state, teams are fighting to earn points to secure potential Champions League qualification in the spring or even win a fall league title in the next two months.

Here are your NPL games of the week:

U19 Boys NPL East

Sacramento United 1 – Revolution FC 0

Goalscorers:

Sacramento: Abdali

The game wasn’t decided until late, but Sacramento United continued their perfect start to U19 Boys NPL East play thanks to a 74th minute strike from the hosts. Yasuf Abdali provided the only goal of the match, heading home a cross from Anthony Barajas to help United take all three points over Revolution FC. Sacramento now have nine points from three games and are just six points behind league leaders Blues FC.

U14 Girls NPL East

Association Football Club 2 – Walnut Creek Surf 2

AFC: Addicott, Babtiste

Walnut Creek: Cooper, Faulkner

Two of the top sides in the U14 Girls NPL East met this past weekend as Association Football Club drew 2-2 with Walnut Creek Surf thanks to two late goals from the visitors. AFC scored just 23 minutes into the match through Evie Addicott and then doubled their lead six minutes later when Paloma Fletcher John Babtiste scored off of a feed from Addicott. But Surf got back into the game in the second half, scoring nine minutes after the break through Leah Cooper before tying the match in the 60th minute on a strike from Brynn Faulkner. The result gave Walnut Creek eight points from four games while AFC now have seven from four.

U19 Boys NPL North

Spurs FC 2 – San Francisco Elite Academy 2

In a U19 Boys NPL North Bay Area clash, Spurs FC scored a pair of early goals to go up 2-0 before SF Elite Academy leveled the game with two second half strikes. Ethan Hamilton and Moshe Luckey scored for the hosts before Michael Sanchez brought one back in the 70th minute. With just 15 minutes to play SF Elite Academy equalized to take a share of the points. Spurs now have four points from three games while SF Elite have drawn both of their games so far.

U15 Girls NPL West

MVLA 0 – De Anza Force 2

Goalscorers:

De Anza: O’Shea, Garcia

De Anza Force traveled to Mountain View this past weekend and scored two goals at opposite ends of the match to move to the top of the U15 Girls NPL West standings with a 2-0 victory over MVLA. Kaelin O’Shea scored just two minutes into the match for what would be the eventual winner before Elisa Garcia sealed the result two minutes from time. The victory gave De Anza 10 points from four games, while MVLA stayed on five points with the result.
