2024 U11-U13 #NorCalStateCup Finals Recap

In a competition that began nearly six months ago, the U11-U13 NorCal Premier Soccer State Cup is finally concluded Sunday at two different locations as finals were played for all Premier and State Divisions.

Originally scheduled for earlier this month, severe weather conditions allowed for the playing of semifinals, but postponed the final matches until last weekend.

Fallon Sports Park in Dublin and Robertson Sports Park in Livermore hosted the action, as 36 different divisions crowned a champion, including all six State divisions.

Just two teams remained in all brackets after the U9-U13 State Cup began with more than 1,600 total teams all the way back in September.

Here are your recaps for the State Division finals, all of which took place in Dublin:

U11

U11 Boys State Final
2/25FC Fresno Academy
3-3 (Modesto win 4-2 on penalties)
Modesto Ajax United
In a matchup that couldn't realistically have been any closer, Modesto Ajax United and FC Fresno Academy each scored twice in regulation to take the U11 Boys State Final to overtime. There, Fresno scored first, only for Modesto to equalize at the death and then prevail 4-2 on kicks from the mark.
U11 Girls State Final
2/25San Juan SC
2-2 (Blues FC win 4-2 on penalties)
Blues FC
After Blues FC stormed to a 2-0 lead thanks to strikes from Lorelei Richards and Camryn Boyer, Region 6 rival San Juan SC fought back to draw the game level. Theodora Pamies and Shal'ann Jackson both hit the back of the net to send the contest into overtime and then penalties. Blues FC swung the momentum back in their favor and finished two more spot kicks than San Juan to claim the title.

U12

U12 Boys State Final
2/25Almaden FC
0-0 (Lodi win 4-3 on penalties)
Lodi FC
While Lodi FC qualified for the U12 Boys State Cup final in comfortable fashion, Almaden FC relied on a late goal in overtime of the semifinals to make it this far. In the final, Almaden again went to overtime, but couldn't find another winner as the match advanced to kicks from the mark. It was there that Lodi prevailed, narrowly edging out the Bay Area side to claim a State Division title.
U12 Girls State Final
2/25MVLA
2-1
Placer United
In a game that featured three goals from distance, including a free kick strike from both sides, MVLA raced out to a 2-0 lead at the half against Placer United with the U12 Girls State Division title on the line. Placer, however, didn't give up and scored 15 minutes into the second period. Though United pressed and pressed for the equalizer, ultimately it didn't come as the match finished 2-1 in favor of MVLA.

U13

U13 Boys State Final
2/25South Valley United
2-1
FC Bay Area Surf
A pair of attackers named Max proved to be the difference in the U13 Boys State Final as South Valley United defeated FC Bay Area Surf via a 2-1 scoreline. Maximus Prieto-Duarte started the scoring for the Central Californian side, hitting the back of the net in the 44th minute before Maximiliano Torres struck for a stoppage time winner to deliver the title to South Valley.
U13 Girls State Final
3/2California Odyssey
11:45 a.m. @ Field #3
Revolution FC
This State Division Final will take place a week later than the others due to scheduling conflicts, however both California Odyssey and Revolution FC are no stranger to making a late impact. To reach the final, California Odyssey took Modesto Ajax United to the latest possible moment in a match: penalties. There, they prevailed 4-2 after neither side could claim a winner in regulation or overtime. Meanwhile, Revolution FC reached the championship game after downing Mustang SC 3-2 in a match that went down to the wire.
