2024 NorCal Spring College Showcase Recap
More than 150 college coaches were in attendance this past weekend as the NorCal Spring College Showcase took place at Davis Legacy Soccer Complex Saturday and Sunday.
The event, which featured several NPL and ECNL-RL title, promotion, and relegation races, also included a series of games with teams from the ECNL, MLS Next, and State Premier divisions.
Additionally, NorCal again welcomed a delegation from Hawaii as the Hawaii Soccer Federation’s Na Alapa U16 girls squad played as well as U16 and U17 boys teams from Leahi Soccer Club.
“NorCal Premier Soccer would like to thank all the attending teams and coaches who made this world class event possible,” said NorCal NPL Commissioner Kelcey Chaidez. “It was an exciting weekend of action where our top level players were able to show their skills to college coaches looking for their next stars.”
For those coaches looking to recruit players, the showcase provided an invaluable experience to see top talent up close and in person.
“It’s been great for us, lots of great teams and talented players from California at this beautiful facility,” said Cal Poly Humboldt assistant coach Juliano “Nano” Pereira. “There have been some competitive games, as the day has gone on we’ve been able to see more teams and we were happy with the quality.”
Added Butte College head coach Claire Abele: “NorCal gets a great group of teams that come in every year. It’s really nice to have one central location where we can see a lot of different teams play that we wouldn’t necessarily be able to otherwise. (At the showcase) we’re able to see a lot of great talent in one weekend.”
For those playing in NorCal’s leagues, this weekend was a chance to claim titles in the U16, U17, and U19 age group.
