2023 NorCal Futsal State Cup Recap

The first-ever NorCal Futsal State Cup took place this past weekend, with more than 100 teams gathering for three days of competition at the highest level at COPA Soccer Training Center in Walnut Creek.

Overall nine different teams became NorCal Futsal State champions for the first time, with an additional seven champions being crowned for the Gold divisions.

“This was the first futsal event NorCal has ever hosted and it was a resounding success,” said NorCal Director of Competitions Daniel Chamberlain. “We believe that futsal can be a vital part of player development, and our aim is to create a competition infrastructure that will allow clubs to build futsal into their yearly calendar.  We hope that in the future clubs will adopt a futsal season to go along with the regular fall and spring seasons.”

During the event, each team was guaranteed a minimum of three matches, with those doing well qualifying for the semifinals and the finals of the competition.

In the State Division, three different clubs lifted multiple trophies: Almaden FC, Central Valley Futbol Club, and MVLA. The other three teams to claim State Division titles were Ballistic United, Napa United, and Woodside SC.
