U17 Boys State Semifinals Recap

U17 BOYS STATE SEMIFINAL A
5/13San Juan
1-2
SC Sporting
In a game that looked to be a blowout at the start -- especially with Santa Clara Sporting’s NPL Champions League title pedigree -- San Juan Ron gave the Sporting a late scare before ultimately bowing out of the competition. A pair of early goals from Harrison Kepp and Javier De Los Santos Jr. paced Santa Clara who looked to have scored a third, only to have it called back for offside. Three minutes from time, Sebastian Alvarado-Ramirez struck for San Juan, but that was the closest the Sacramento-based side would get to sniffing the final.
U17 BOYS STATE SEMIFINAL B
5/13Force
0-2
Marin FC
In a match that was otherwise even, Marin FC appeared to thrive in the end of each half, scoring twice in the last 15 minutes of each period to qualify for the final. Miguel Maldonado gave Marin a lead in the 32nd minute, and just two minutes before time, Brian Arbizu doubled the lead over Force to lead an opportunistic Marin side into a tough final matchup against Santa Clara Sporting.
