U13/U14 State Cup Quaterfinals, Semifinals Conclude

For the first time ever, NorCal Premier Soccer hosted knockout round games for the U13 and U14 State Cup divisions on the same weekend, with those two age groups playing in quarterfinal and semifinal matchups this past weekend.

The action at Davis Legacy Soccer Complex and Turlock Regional Sports Complex whittled the number of teams in each division down to two, with each final scheduled for April 27 in Davis.

“It made a ton of sense to pair these two age groups together and the feedback we’ve received from the event so far has been all positive,” said NorCal State Cup Coordinator Brian Voltattorni. “This past weekend featured an excellent slate of games for the youngest 11v11 age groups. There was a real buzz around both venues that we hope to replicate later this month at the finals.”

Those final matchups will be played alongside the U15-U19 quarterfinals, with 27 different titles still up for grabs.

Of those 27 divisions, four are the top-ranked State Division, which denotes NorCal’s true State champion.

Overall, seven different clubs qualified for State Division finals, with Modesto Ajax the only side to have two different entries in the finals.

Also qualifying were teams from Bay Area Surf, California Odyssey, Dnamo FC, Folsom Lake Surf, Santa Clara Sporting, and Santa Rosa United.

The U13 and U14 State Cup began all the way back in the fall with group stage play that featured three different games before teams were seeded into different knockout round brackets.

From there, most teams started play in the round of 32 that was hosted by the higher seed before moving into a round of 16 that was similarly played at the home grounds of one club.

This past weekend marked the first neutral site games with the quarterfinals and semis.
