U11/U12 State, Premier, and Platinum Divisions Conclude This Weekend
In a competition that began all the way back in the fall, the U11 and U12 NorCal State Cup finals are set to conclude this weekend with the semifinals and final matchups taking place in the greater Sacramento area.
While most levels already concluded their campaigns back in December, the State, Premier, and Platinum divisions will be decided Saturday and Sunday, with matches hosted at Bartholomew Sports Park in Elk Grove and San Juan Soccer Complex in Rancho Cordova.
For those in the State Division, winning the title will earn each team the right to call themselves the true State champion of NorCal Premier Soccer.
“Just making it to this stage of the competition is an incredible achievement for all those involved,” said U9-U12 State Cup Coordinator John Stoppelmann. “That being said, there’s still a ton of soccer to be played and we expect it to come at a high level in a fun environment this weekend.”
Teams playing this weekend began their State Cup journeys in September with a three game group stage before moving to the knockout stages earlier this year. In order to qualify for Finals Weekend, each team needed to win at least two elimination matches.
Overall, 33 different divisions are still up for grabs, with 921 different teams participating from the start.
Each finalist in this year’s Norcal State Cup State Division will earn a spot in the California Cup, a competition that sees the top teams in NorCal face off against the best from SOCAL Soccer League. The California Cup is scheduled for March 29 and 30 at Davis Legacy Soccer Complex.
