NorCal Matchday #5

With just over a month until the NorCal Spring College Showcase, title races all around the state are heating up as teams look to solidify their place in the standings and possibly even make a run at an elusive championship. This week, NorCal Matchday heads over to the ECNL-RL, where a slew of different high level contests with title implications will take place.

Here are your NorCal Premier Soccer games of the week:

U19 Girls ECNL-RL
4/5San Juan SC
8:00 a.m. @ San Juan Soccer Complex
Folsom Lake Surf
With just over half a season played, it appears as if five teams are fully entrenched in the title race in the U19 Girls ECNL-RL: leaders IR Academy, Burlingame SC, San Juan SC, Walnut Creek Surf, and Folsom Lake Surf. Two of those sides meet this weekend in a local derby as San Juan host Folsom in a match that could give the winner the boost they need to chase the championship. Currently San Juan are two points off of leaders IR and could take the division lead with the table, while Folsom Lake Surf are seven points back but have a game in hand on IR and two games in hand on San Juan.
U15 Girls ECNL-RL
4/5California Odyssey
12:00 p.m. @ Clovis East High School - Field 7
EC Revolution
Just three points separate the top three sides in the U15 Girls ECNL-RL, making this weekend's matchup between California Odyssey and East County Revolution incredibly important. Odyssey currently lead the division with 19 points from eight games, while Revolution are two points behind, but have played an extra game. Also in contention are 18-point Woodside Crush and 16-point Stanislaus United, with the latter having at least one game in hand on everyone in the league.
U15 Boys ECNL-RL
4/5Clovis Crossfire
1:00 p.m. @ Granite Sports Complex
SF United FC
Coming into the weekend, three different teams are all tied at the top of the U15 Boys ECNL-RL on 20 points. Two of those sides will meet on Saturday when Clovis Crossfire host SF United FC. Back in September, the pair battled to a 2-2 draw, though each team will be out for all three points this time to ensure that they can keep pace with fellow 20-point side Folsom Lake Surf, and 17-point Elk Grove United, who are lurking just behind.
U17 Boys ECNL-RL
4/5IR Academy
4:30 p.m. @ Oasis Park South
De Anza Force
While Los Gatos United and Turlock Academica Jrs are currently leading the U17 Boys ECNL-RL, it appears as if two different sides have the chance to make things interesting as the seasons goes down to the wire: third-place De Anza Force and fourth-place IR Academy. Those two sides meet each other this weekend, with both having games in hand on the leaders. Currently De Anza are just five points off of the mark with a game in hand, while IR are 11 points back with two games in hand. A win this weekend could put pressure on Los Gatos and Turlock.
U19 Boys ECNL-RL
4/5Clovis Crossfire
7:00 p.m. @ Granite Park Sports Complex South
TSP FC
With 17 points from eight games, TSP FC have been the top team in the U19 Boys ECNL-RL thus far in the season and head into this weekend with a one point lead over second place Eastshore Alliance. Standing in their way of potentially furthering their lead will be Clovis Crossfire, who are currently just three points behind and played Turlock to a tough 2-2 draw all the way back in October.
U17 Girls ECNL-RL
4/6Santa Clara Sporting
TBA
Stanislaus United
While North Coast FC currently lead the U17 Girls ECNL-RL, both Santa Clara Sporting and Stanislaus United are right in the thick of things and head into the weekend with several games in hand on their North Bay rivals. Sporting head into Sunday's matchup seven points behind North Coast but have three games in hand, while Stanislaus are eight points back, but have four games in hand. Should either team pick up all three points, they will put immense pressure on North Coast to keep winning.
