Games of the Week #3: National 1 League

With the first official day of fall just around the corner, NorCal Premier Soccer’s league competitions are heating up with title races beginning all around the state. In what should be an exciting slate of action, NorCal’s new National 1 League has begun with teams looking to earn spots in next year’s ECNL Regional League.

Here are your games of the week:

U17 Boys N1 South
9/12Santa Cruz United
9:00 a.m. @ New Brighton Middle School
Almaden FC
It's early in the N1 season, but Santa Cruz United have come out as early favorites for the U17 Boys South title, winning all three of their games while posting a plus-nine goal differential in the process. This weekend they'll host Bay Area rivals Almaden FC, who are one spot behind them in the standings with seven points, but have played an extra game. The winner of this match will end the weekend at the top of the table, though if there is a draw, Santa Cruz will stay in first place.
U16 Girls N1 Capitol
9/12Lincoln FC
11:00 a.m. @ Foskett Regional Park
North State Soccer Missfits
So far in the U16 Girls Capitol division, there have been eight victories picked up by teams. Six of those eight have come from Lincoln FC and North State Soccer Missfits, who both sit at a perfect 3-0-0 at the present moment. It's early, but the two clubs each have a six point advantage over third place, making this matchup potentially hugely important in the title race.
U18/U19 N1 Girls East
9/12Turlock Academica Jrs.
4:00 p.m. @ Academica Soccer Fields
Albion SC Merced
This weekend's Central California derby between Turlock Academica Jrs. and Albion SC Merced sees first place battle second, with bragging rights and a spot at the top of the table on the line. So far this year, Turlock have been perfect, winning all three of their matches while scoring 11 goals and allowing just one. Meanwhile, Albion SC dropped one game, but can still take the overall lead in the standings with a win this weekend by virtue of the head-to-head tiebreaker.
U18/U19 N1 Boys Peninsula
9/12De Anza Force
5:00 p.m. @ De Anza College
Belmont United
With just a few games played in this division, De Anza Force and Belmont United have already established themselves as the favorites to take home the U18/U19 N1 Boys Peninsula title. Belmont currently sit atop the table with seven points, but have played three games, while De Anza have won a perfect two games out of two. Should either team come home with a victory this weekend, they'll have an early advantage in a league in which everyone plays each other both home and away.
