NPL Matchday #7

With just over a month to play until the NorCal College Showcase, it’s crunch time for the various sides all around the state hoping to claim titles or finish high enough to qualify for the spring’s Champions League. Earning three points this weekend is a must for everyone with some teams having played more than half of their league schedule so far.

Here are your NPL games of the week:

U14 Boys NPL East

Association Football Club – 1974 Newark FC

Saturday, 10/8 8:00 a.m. @ Merritt College – Stadium

In a matchup between first and second, the only two unbeaten teams will face off this weekend when Association Football Club host 1974 Newark FC in Oakland. AFC currently have a slight advantage with nine points from three games, while Newark have seven points from the same amount of fixtures and could leapfrog AFC with an away win.

U16 Boys NPL West

Sunnyvale Alliance – Los Gatos United

Saturday, 10/8 3:00 p.m. @ Fair Oaks Park – Soccer 1

While Sunnyvale Alliance head into their matchup against Los Gatos United this weekend standing at the top of the table, Los Gatos have been perfect so far. The visitors come into this game having won both of their fixtures so far, while Sunnyvale are unbeaten in four but have drawn one game. A victory for Los Gatos would move them just one point behind the league leaders with a game in hand.

U19 Girls NPL West

Santa Cruz Breakers – MVLA

Sunday, 10/9 9:00 a.m. @ Harbor High School

Visitors MVLA will head into the weekend with a commanding advantage in the U19 Girls NPL West. The Mountain View side has won all four of its games and every other side in the standings has already dropped points at least once. MVLA’s opponents will be the Santa Cruz Breakers, who have a solid six points from three games and would move to within striking distance with a victory Sunday.

Sunday, 10/9 11:00 a.m. @ Santa Clara Youth Soccer Park – Field #2

In a division in which five teams are within four points of first place, Santa Clara Sporting and Palo Alto SC will look to get back into the thick of the action with a win this weekend.
