NPL Matchday #10 Preview

For most teams, this weekend marks the end of the NPL season as several leagues have already been clinched ahead of our NorCal College Showcases the next two weekends. However, many divisions still have a lot left to play for, with some titles set to be decided this Saturday and Sunday in Northern California.

Here are your NPL games of the week:

U15 Girls NPL 1 East

11/6: San Juan Soccer Club – Mustang Soccer Club 9:00 a.m. @ San Juan Soccer Club – White

In a division where a multitude of games still need to be made up, first-place San Juan Soccer Club hosts third-place Mustang Soccer Club in a matchup that could help shape the title race. The hosts currently sit tied atop the table with second-place IR Academy on 12 points, but have a game in hand and the head-to-head tiebreaker over IR. Meanwhile, Mustang have just six points from four games, but could emerge as a third contender with a win over San Juan.

U14 Boys NPL North

11/6: Association Football Club – Central Valley Premier 10:00 a.m. @ Merritt College – Stadium

Despite having two games left to play, the task at hand for Association Football Club Saturday is simple: win or draw and the division is theirs. AFC have been a perfect 5-0-0 so far on the season and the only team left that can still catch them is third-place Central Valley Premier, who will have their work cut out for them. CVP not only needs to win this game to keep the title race open, but they have to win again against second-place San Francisco Elite Sunday and then hope that AFC lose the following Friday.

U17 Boys NPL East

11/7: California Odyssey Soccer Club – Blues FC 12:00 p.m. @ Buchanan High School – Clovis JV Field 4

With just one game left to play, 17-point California Odyssey sit just one point behind first-place Union Sacramento, who have already finished their slate of games in the division. Should California win or draw, they will take the title due to owning the head-to-head tiebreaker against Union. Looking to stop them will be fourth-place Blues FC, who can’t finish higher in the table than third, but will still hope to play spoiler for the Odyssey.

U14 Girls NPL 1 East

11/7: Davis Legacy – Stanislaus United 12:00 p.m. @ Davis Legacy Soccer Complex – Pod A Field 1

Heading into the final matchday in the U14 Girls NPL 1 East, Stanislaus United sit tied atop of the table on 18 points with Mustang SC. However, due to a 5-0 drubbing earlier in the year, United own the head-to-head tiebreaker over their Bay Area rivals. To win the division, Stanislaus will need to at least match Mustang’s result — the former take on fourth-place Davis Legacy while the latter host fifth-place Walnut Creek Surf.
