LIGA NorCal Spring League and COPA NorCal Dates Set

NorCal Premier Soccer, in conjunction with its competitive adult league, LIGA NorCal, is proud to announce the details for the LIGA NorCal Adult Spring League that will include a schedule of 7-8 games and run from March 1 to April 20.

In addition, NorCal announced the formation of an adult state cup, titled COPA NorCal, which will run in conjunction at neutral sites with the U14 – U19 State Cup from May to June.

While teams can sign up for just one of the two competitions, those who participate in both will receive a discounted fee of $950, while participating in just the COPA NorCal will cost $600.

The winner of COPA NorCal will receive a $5,000 cash prize.

“The formation of COPA NorCal is the next of many steps to improve adult soccer in Northern California,” said NorCal Adult Soccer Director Cris Gilmore. “Everywhere else in the world, adults continue to play in competitive competitions at the non-professional level. That’s what we’re trying to establish here.”

“After successful summer and fall seasons in the inaugural year of LIGA NorCal, we’re looking to build on what we did in 2017 to make sure that 2018 provides even more quality opportunities for adults to continue to play the game that they love,” he added.

“Our spring league is designed to create a professional, competitive environment for teams to sharpen up their team organization, improve their fitness, and most importantly be playing their best by the time COPA NorCal kicks off,” Gilmore concluded.

Teams in the spring league are asked to be able to host 3-4 games, while the games for COPA NorCal will be May 5 and 6 for the round robin stage, May 12 and 13 for the second round and quarterfinals and June 2 and 3 for the semifinals and finals.

All adult teams interested in participating in COPA NorCal are welcome to enter regardless of their current league affiliation.

Winners of the LIGA Regional Adult Spring League and COPA NorCal will be granted spots in the summer’s LIGA Premier, the top level of amateur soccer that NorCal offers, which is set to begin on June 1 and end on July 30.
