LIGA NorCal Matchday No. 9

Just two matchdays remain in LIGA NorCal before the league takes the first of its two mini winter breaks and the teams that take leads into these pauses in action will definitely feel better about themselves heading into the Hollidays. So with just a few games left, in 2019, valuable points are on the table as the table has developed a clear top six contenders for Northern California’s top amateur league. Here is your LIGA NorCal Game of the Week recap:

El Farolito 2 – Club Marin 3

Goalscorers: Marin: Das (2), Ruzzier-Gaul

El Farolito: Perez, Arias

After entering the break locked in a scoreless tie, fireworks flew between El Farolito and Club Marin as the latter pulled out a 3-2 victory that maintained their perfect season.

Alex Perez scored first for El Farolito, hitting the back of the net almost immediately after halftime before Sebastian Das equalized the scoreline.

The hosts then equalled the match through Erik Arias and led with five minutes remaining before Das scored the visitors’ second on the night off of a corner kick and Julian Ruzzier-Gual provided the winner, also off of a corner kick.

“This was one of the most exciting games Club Marin has played all year,” said manager Muz Nana. “This was Club Marin’s hardest test yet and for the first time all year, we were behind, not once in the game, but twice, but we continued to fight and battle through adversity to win the game.”

Added El Farolito manager JP Mujica: “It was a great game against a good and experienced Marin team. I’m happy with the performance of the team. We were proactive in the attack and created some very good chances, unfortunately two mistakes in the last minutes determined the game. WE are a new squad with young players and we hope to learn from this game and continue to improve.”
