2025 Spring College Showcase Recap
With more than 100 college coaches in attendance, the 2025 NorCal Spring College Showcase took place this past weekend at Davis Legacy Soccer Complex, with thousands of players and hundreds of teams putting forth their best efforts in front of those looking to find their next collegiate stars.
With matches in the ECNL-RL, ECNL, and friendlies all taking place over the course of two days, the event proved a festive atmosphere and, for some, a fitting way to end a spring season that started all the way back in March.
“We want to thank all the players, coaches, and parents for making this unique event possible,” said NorCal NPL Commissioner Kelcey Chaidez. “The quality of play all throughout the weekend was top notch, there’s no doubt in my mind that the attending college coaches were able to see the talent they need to improve their rosters for the future.”

While several matches at the Showcase were just friendlies, including several from a delegation of Hawaiian players and Sacramento Republic FC, the weekend also served as the final two matchdays in the ECNL-RL, with five divisions still up for grabs before any of the action kicked off.
That action didn’t disappoint as six different clubs ended on top of their respective leagues, earning themselves a trophy presentation on the NorCal stage as well as championship rings.
While MVLA had already clinched the 2009 Girls ECNL-RL before the weekend began, the rest of the action went down to the wire.
Other winning clubs were North Coast FC (2008 Girls), IR Academy (2007/06 Girls), Albion SC Merced (2009 Boys), Los Gatos United (2008 Boys), and Eastshore Alliance (2007/06 Boys).
“We put all of the ECNL-RL games on the central fields, ensuring that there would be a great atmosphere for these title races, several of which went down to the final day,” Chaidez said. “It was great seeing all these competitive matches end at the same time in the same area in front of all of the college coaches. You couldn’t have asked for a better environment to serve as the season’s culmination.”
Additionally, NorCal hosted its first ever College ID camp the Friday prior to the event, with 120 players from the NPL, ECNL-RL, GA, and ECNL taking part in a series of sessions and scrimmages run by 10 NCAA Division I–III coaches.
“We’re looking to run more of these camps in the future in order to ensure that players in Northern California are seen by as many college coaches as possible,” said NorCal Director of Competitions Daniel Chamberlain. “This first ID camp turned out to be a huge success that we’ll look to build on in the future.”
