U19 Girls State Semifinals Recap

U19 GIRLS STATE SEMIFINAL A
5/13Blues FC
1-4
West Coast SC
It was just 11 minutes into this semifinal when West Coast Wildfire found themselves behind to a strong Blues FC side, with Shailyn Valenzano scoring from the spot to give the Blues an early lead. But West Coast didn’t give in, fighting for every 50-50 ball and going hard into every challenge to fight their way back into the game. The Wildfire equalized just before halftime through Callie Crain before a second half brace from Delanie Sheehan and an insurance goal in the 88th minute from Lauren Sisneros settled the matter at hand and sent West Coast into the final.
U19 GIRLS STATE SEMIFINAL B
5/13Davis Legacy 98
4-3
Davis Legacy 99
Despite not having lost any games in nearly a year, Davis Legacy 98 were pushed to the limit by their younger rivals in Davis Legacy 99. Legacy 99 raced out to a surprising 2-0 lead after miscommunications from Legacy 98, with Elena Burgess and Mia Marin giving the youthful side a dream start. However, Mia Root continued her fine form in the competition in bringing a goal back for the favored olders in the 32nd minute, before Julia Curtis and Julia Cummings gave Legacy 98 the lead with a pair of strikes in the 55th minute. Brooke Rubinstein did well to force an own goal on a breakaway to tie the game up in the 71st minute, but Legacy 98 would not be denied as Root struck again three minutes from time to send Legacy 98 into the final.
