U19 GIRLS STATE QUARTERFINAL A
5/7Blues FC
7-1
Marin FC
In the first of two lopsided quarterfinal, Blues FC were all over Marin FC, scoring early and often. Savannah Scott was the hero for Blues, scoring a hat trick, while winger Aleah Treiterer proved to be a handful for Marin, winning an early penalty that Hannah Bonfils calmly finished. Marin FC’s goal was well-taken, with Sydney Spina toe-poking home a breakaway in the first half to ensure that Marin wouldn’t be shut out.
U19 GIRLS STATE QUARTERFINAL B
5/7West Coast SC
7-1
SC Sporting 99
In the other one-sided quarterfinal, West Coast Wild put on one of the performances of the tournament in downing Santa Clara Sporting by a 7-1 scoreline. Tori Deihl and Lauren Sisters were the stars of a quality team performance for West Coast, with both players garnering braces on the night.
U19 GIRLS STATE QUARTERFINAL C
5/7Davis Legacy 98
3-2
Placer United 99
While Davis Legacy 98 had been unstoppable in the attack in a 7-0-0 NPL Champions League season, they had also been vulnerable at the back. NPL 1 side Placer United certainly exploited this, as Nicolette Lewis finished off a cross early in the second half to take a 1-0 lead. Jada Macairan then curled the ball into the upper 90 to tie the game, before a hustle play from Sydney Schultz resulted in a second lead for Placer. Controversy ensued as Placer protested that the Legacy’s second goal was offside, while claiming that one of their shots had crossed the line as well. Winger Julia Curtis fired in the eventual winner late, curling home a feed from Mackenzie Magaoay.
U19 GIRLS STATE QUARTERFINAL D
5/7Davis Legacy 99
3-0
CCSA Black
Central California Soccer Alliance showed some rust in this quarterfinal after electing not to play in the NPL Champions League this spring, as Davis Legacy 99 made no mistakes in booking their place in the quarterfinals. Mia Villegas scored for the Legacy early, while Brooke Rubinstein and Sophia added goals to advance the Legacy to a semifinal where they’ll face Legacy 98 in a derby.
