In a game in which Palo Alto SC scored twice early in the first half, it looked as if a blowout may have been on the cards against NPL 1 side California Thorns. But after Kayla Morales scored in the eighth minute on a one-on-one and Haley Chitwood doubled the Palo Alto advantage with a solid strike, the scoring then ceased and both sides played out the second half with chances few and far between. With the win, Palo Alto completed a State Cup and Champions League double in what was the last season of club soccer for many of their players.
