U17 Boys State Quarterfinals Preview

U17 BOYS STATE QUARTERFINAL A
5/7Alpine Strikers
10:30 AM
San Juan
They may have only played three games so far in the U17 Boys State Premier Championship, but Alpine Strikers Red have won each one without conceding a goal so far. Their form in the State Cup has also been excellent, winning their first two knockout round games while scoring seven goals. In their way of a semifinal berth though, are Boys NPL 2 side San Juan Lightning Ron, who have posted a 4-1-2 record in league and won their first two knockout round games via a 2-1 scoreline.
U17 BOYS STATE QUARTERFINAL B
5/7SC Sporting
10:30 AM
Odyssey South
Fresh off a 7-0-0 NPL Champions League season, former NPL National Champion Santa Clara Sporting will be looking for their league and State Cup double, starting with a tough match against Odyssey South Black. Odyssey South have been no slouches themselves in league play, currently standing in second place in the U17 Boys NPL 1. Odyssey have proven their pedigree in the Cup, defeating third-place Champions League side Atletico Santa Rosa in a crazy 6-5 knockout game, before besting Pumas Fresno 2-0 in the round of 16.
U17 BOYS STATE QUARTERFINAL C
5/7TBD
12:45 PM
Force
Force I will have to wait to see who they play in the quarterfinals of the State Cup as Placer United Gold face Ballistic United Elite on Saturday to determine who will get the opportunity to face the NPL Champions League side. Placer United’s congested schedule, which included a trip to the Dallas Cup prevented the match from occurring until this weekend, but they will be favored to advance as a fellow Champions League team. Meanwhile, Ballistic United are currently in third place in the State Premier 1 division with a 2-2-1 record.
U17 BOYS STATE QUARTERFINAL D
5/7Lobos United
12:45 PM
Marin FC
It’s almost a sure thing that neither of these teams will know anything about each other, as they play in completely different divisions, and haven’t met in any competition this season. Marin FC Blue finished mid table in their Champions League division with a 3-3-1 record, while Lobos United are currently atop their State Premier 4 division with a 3-0-1 mark. Both sides have enjoyed strong Cup runs though, and anything can happen when they meet this weekend.
