U16 Boys State Quarterfinals Preview

U16 BOYS STATE QUARTERFINAL A
5/6EBU Bay Oaks
10:10 AM
Lamorinda United
The first match of the U16 Boys State Cup division features two sides near the top of their respective league tables -- albeit two divisions apart. Thanks to their position at the top of the U16 Boys NPL 1 division Lamorinda Navy will come in as the favorite, but don’t count out a strong EBU Bay Oaks side that have posterized their opponents for three goals each in their previous two State Cup knockout games. Bay Oaks have also been in excellent form in the NPL 3, finishing the league with a 5-1-1 record, while Lamorinda have been unbeaten in the NPL 1 with a 4-0-1 record.
U16 BOYS STATE QUARTERFINAL B
5/6Turlock Tornados
2:30 PM
EC Real Galaxy
In perhaps one of the most even matches -- at least on paper -- Boys U16 NPL Champions League sides Turlock Tornados and EC Real Salinas Galaxy meet in a match that could easily have been the final. The sides finished their league seasons just one point apart in the standings, with their solitary match of the spring finishing 2-1 to the Galaxy, who also topped Turlock in the table by just one place, with Real Salinas finishing fourth and Turlock ending in fifth place.
U16 BOYS STATE QUARTERFINAL C
5/6SC Sporting
12:20 PM
Odyssey South
In another cross-league game, Boys U16 NPL 1 side Santa Clara Sporting take on NPL 2 side Odyssey South Black in a match that will test strength against strength for both sides. For Sporting, it has been their defense that has paved the way, with the squad allowing just six goals in five league games, while the Odyssey’s potent offense has scored 16 times in seven league matches. But in the Cup, both sides have been scoring goals, with the pair combining for 14 scored in their three knockout games.
U16 BOYS STATE QUARTERFINAL D
5/6Atletico Santa Rosa
4:40 PM
SJ Earthquakes
In another match that could easily have been a final, the top two sides from the Boys U16 NPL Champions League meet this season, with the San Jose Earthquakes coming in as league champions. However, with the league already decided, Atletico Santa Rosa gave the Earthquakes their only loss of the NPL season, 3-0, on the final day of the NPL College Showcase.
