U15 Girls NPL Fall Showcase Recap

NPL 1 EAST

Division Winner

Davis Legacy

Champions League Qualifiers

Davis Legacy, Ajax United, Central California Soccer Alliance

All three Champions League berths in the NPL 1 East were wrapped up heading into the weekend, meaning that only the division title was left to decide between qualifiers Davis Legacy, Ajax United, and Central California Soccer Alliance. While Ajax (17 points) won both of their games over the weekend, including a 2-1 result over Davis, the Legacy’s four-point lead over Ajax heading into the weekend proved imperative. Still, Central California (16 points) could have topped the division with a win over the Legacy Sunday, but Davis pulled out a 1-0 result and ended top of the table with 18 points. Fourth-place San Juan heads to the NPL 1 in the spring, while fifth-place Union Sacramento will play in the NPL 2.

NPL 1 WEST

Division Winner

OV Toros

Champions League Qualifiers Teams

OV Toros, MVLA Barca, SF Elite, Pleasanton Rage, Mustang

With a tight race at the top of the table coming into the finally weekend of play, OV Toros (19 points) needed to win both of their games in order to ensure the NPL 1 West title. The Toros had no problem with the challenge at hand, defeating Pleasanton Rage 4-2 and Walnut Creek 2-0 to claim the division. Just one point behind the Toros were MVLA Barca, who ended the season with a 6-2-0 mark and qualified for the Champions League along with SF Elite (13 points) and the Rage (12 points), and Mustang (12 points), while Marin FC and Pajaro Valley (11 points each) also were unfortunate to not make it through.

NPL 2 NORTH

Division Winner

Placer United

Needing a draw to claim the division title, Placer United (15 points) tied Atletico Santa Rosa (10 points) late on Sunday to claim one two NPL 1 spots in the spring. As that was the only NPL 2 North game of the weekend, West Coast Soccer (14 points) were already assured of a top-two finish and will join Placer in the NPL 1, while third-place Livermore Fusion (14 points) and fourth-place Atletico are headed to the NPL 2.

NPL 2 SOUTH

Division Winner

MVLA Barcelona 04

While MVLA Barcelona Blue (27 points) had already clinched an NPL 1 spot heading into the weekend, and likely the title as well, the only real question was who would join them as the second-place finisher. Thanks to wins Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, that team will be from the same club, as MVLA Barca White (22 points) snuck into the NPL 1 with an impressive series of results. Qualifying for the NPL 2 from this division are Palo Alto SC (17 points), California Thorns (15), Santa Clara Sporting (13), and Almaden FC (11).
