Despite some early good play from MCS ECFC United, they were only able to manage a solitary strike against San Juan SC in the first half.

That strike came 16 minutes in as Sebastian Zavala made the most of several opportunities that MCS conjured up with strong possession and attacking soccer.

But still, San Juan kept it close and the game wasn’t truly out of reach until the 61st minute when Victor Narez cut the ball back near the top of the box, beat a San Juan defender, and calmly finished in the near post.

The win marked the end of a year-long journey for MCS, who made it to the final the previous year but weren’t able to come up with a victory.
