FC Elk Grove
In a match where both sides defended extremely well, only a 74th minute strike from Lexi Rakela proved to be the difference in the as Union continued their dream run for at least one more week. NPL 1 side FC Elk Grove continued their string of solid defensive efforts in allowing just one goal in each of their knockout round games, but ultimately were done in by their inability to break down Sacramento’s defense in the final third.

Pajaro Valley
Parajo Valley continued their hot streak of form in 2017 as the State Premier team, who currently sit atop their league with a 6-0-0 record, put up another clean sheet in the State Cup knockout rounds to advance to the semifinal. Valley left it late though, not scoring until just a minute before the referee blew the final whistle, with Chantal Aguirre doing the damage to down a NPL 2 East Clovis Crossfire side that played well enough to have the result go their way, but ultimately couldn’t get past Parajo’s strong defense.

Davis Legacy
In perhaps the most exciting match in the age group, Davis Legacy and Walnut Creek combined for three goals in the first 15 minutes, before the Legacy eventually took hold of the match and were able to close out their victory. Franchesca Bolivar scored just four minutes into the match for Davis, before Walnut Creek equalized eight minutes later through Brynn Reyes. A Davis goal from Lyah Fitzpatrick made it 2-1, before Marcela Pretto scored right after the break to give Davis a two goal cushion. Walnut Creek then had a goal called back for offside, but scored in the 50th minute with Iliana Treyger hitting the back of the net. Walnut Creek would push for a late equalizer, even bringing their keeper forward on a late set piece, but it was to no avail as the Legacy closed the match out.

MVLA White
Placer took an early lead in this match, with their squad’s target forward Karley Garcia scoring in the middle of the first half. MVLA, looking for the upset win, nearly had one on the cards when Avrey Cohen-Hadria smashed in a free kick right before the halftime whistle to tie the match up. The eventual winner came in the 68th minute when Jordan Gotham slalomed through the MVLA defense, beating a handful of defenders, before toe-poking home for the 2-1 victory.
