Ahead of NorCal Premier Soccer’s Summer Coaching Symposium, scheduled to start this Thursday at Las Positas College in Livermore, NorCal announced Monday two changes to the impressive lineup of clinicians at the event.

Due to garnering new jobs, Jorge Raffo and Renato Piava have been replaced by Marco Antonio Ruiz and Javier Lopez.

Marco Antonio Ruiz currently serves as the Mexico U-20 National Team coach, where this summer he led them to an impressive quarterfinals finish at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in South Korea, only bowing out to eventual champions England.

Previously, Ruiz worked as the assistant coach for Chivas Guadalajara in Mexico and as the U-15 Mexico National Team coach before the former Mexican international moved to his current position.

“NorCal Premier Soccer is honored to have Marco Antonio Ruiz as one of the instructors for our symposium,” said NorCal PDP staff member Andrew Ziemer. “He will be presenting an inside look into the scouting process, game preparation, tactics, and system of play of his whole U-20 World Cup experience from this past month in South Korea. This is a unique opportunity for all NorCal soccer educators to learn. We thank Ruiz in advance for sharing his knowledge and experience.”wo

Meanwhile, Javier Lopez comes to the symposium with an impressive resume that includes the authoring of more than 40 editorial books on football.

Lopez has worked at various levels of the game across the world including a stint as the Director of Real Madrid Soccer Academies in Mexico, the Head Coach at Cimarrones Liga MX 1A, and the Youth Director of Atlante FC in Mexico.

“Lopez gives a professional presentation on and off the field — tailored to the level of our NorCal Coaches,” said PDP staff member Ian Mork who attended a presentation from Lopez earlier in the year. “He teaches age-appropriate and game-related exercises combined with a detailed methodology.”

The registration deadline for the event is now 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday night. For more information and to register click here.
