Referee Symposium to Take Place July 1 at Las Positas College in Livermore

All referees are invited to an upcoming Referee Symposium and FIFA Fitness Test on July 1 at Las Positas College in Livermore.

The symposium is headlined by Sandra Hunt, a former FIFA referee from 1999 to 2004 and currently a referee coach for the Professional Referee Organization (PRO). Hunt was selected to officiate in both the 1999 and 2003 FIFA Women’s World Cups as well as the 2000 Sydney Olympics.

“Sandy Hunt is one of the key assignors for the Pac 12 Conference in the US,” said NorCal Premier Soccer Referee Coordinator Moe Shafai. “This is an excellent opportunity to meet with one of the best assignors in the country.”

Hunt will be introduced by Matthew Buckman, the Director of Referee Development for CNRA, who will also lay out his plans for the upcoming season.

The fitness test, which is a requirement of maintaining or upgrading to one’s state level status, will be administered at 8:30 a.m. and be followed by the field training session led by Hunt.

In addition, Shafai will be at the event to meet referees, answer questions, and explain how referee assignments for NPL College Showcase and NorCal State Cup events are given out.

Potential attendees are asked to RSVP as soon as possible in order to get a correct head count for lunch, which will be provided. Parking permits are $2.00.
