NorCal State Cup Quarterfinals Recap: U14 Boys

U14 BOYS STATE QUARTERFINAL A
4/28Mustang Elite
1-3
MVLA Blue
Scoring three goals in the first 38 minutes of the game, MVLA showed their diversity in attack with three different scorers striking early to put this quarterfinal tie away. Just 14 minutes into the match, Kevin Valencia put MVLA up, before Tyler Lin doubled their lead 13 minutes later. Finally, Arnav Rathnam scored in the 38th minute, meaning that Conner Shearer’s 40th minute strike made no difference on the outcome of the game.
U14 BOYS STATE QUARTERFINAL B
4/28Diablo FC
1-4
Manteca FC Boca
It took the strong, attacking side in Manteca just 13 minutes to get on the board, with Joel Velasquez doing the damage through a sublime free kick. Seven minutes later, Edison Ramirez punched a ball home to double the Manteca lead over Diablo FC, before Alexander Soto added a third before halftime to essentially end the game. Diablo FC’s Adam Rychtecky was able to pull one back just after the break, but Manteca’s Angel Herrera scored one minute before time to ensure that his squad would advance with a three goal victory.

Woodland Dynamite
Scoring early and often, Woodland SC continued their dream State Cup run through early goals from Roberto Sandoval, Cristian Garcia, Samuel Arreola, and a brace from their crafty No. 10 in Nestor Lomeli Jr. The Odyssey were able to pull one back in the 65th minute with a counter attack goal from Octavio Zanabria, but by that time it was already 5-1.
U14 BOYS STATE QUARTERFINAL D
4/28ECFC United
7-1
Tahuichi FC Red
Tahuichi got off to an early lead in this quarterfinal game, with Giancarlo Lopez Cuevas scoring with a 20-yard strike in just the eighth minute, but from there it was all ECFC United. The squad from Salinas scored an impressive seven goals straight, starting with a 10th minute strike from Anthony Arevalo. David Gonzalez, Kevin Hernandez, and Angel Pinon-Cruz then all added braces to decidedly defeat Tahuichi on a dominant day.
