u17-placer-vs-galtThe NPL 1 East’s three Champions League spots may have already been secured coming into the weekend by Placer United Gold, Galt FC United and Sacramento United Reds, but it was a pair of victories from Placer that decided the title race with Placer defeating Galt 2-1 Sunday to officially decide the race. Galt had a tough weekend schedule, also facing Sacramento United Reds on Saturday, but they were able to pull out a late winner in a 1-0 victory to finish in second place overall.

Despite the loss, Atletico just qualified for the Champions League, finishing in fifth place after a 3-1 win over Lamorinda Saturday. Heritage SC

With only four games on the slate on the weekend and the title and NPL 1 spot already decided for Heritage SC, there was little notable action in this division during the showcase. Union Sacramento FC and San Juan Lightning did both qualify for the NPL 2 after a scoreless draw Sunday, though both were all-but assured of that placing after fourth-place Impact Soccer fell to Heritage 1-0 Saturday.
