A Letter From NorCal Premier Soccer

During this five years, we have seen tremendous growth in the Norcal Premier Leagues and the Norcal Premier State Cup.(s) In addition, we have developed a Player Development Program (PDP) and a Coaches Education Program to provide players and coaches additional opportunities to develop. It is very clear to us, this would not have been possible without the tremendous efforts of the managers, coaches, board members, parents and Directors of Coaching of Northern California Soccer Clubs.

During this past summer, we requested US Club Soccer meet with our Board of Directors to review everything in Norcal Premier Soccer. We wanted their advice on how to structure or restructure the NorCal Premier Soccer organization to ensure it can properly administer and provide all programs - at the highest level - into the future. This past November, we met with US Club President Bill Sage and Ken Chartier and received very valuable feedback. In addition to this meeting, we have also received valuable feedback from many DOC’s, Club Presidents and others involved in Norcal Premier Soccer. This feedback has assisted us tremendously and resulted in the following action in the areas below:

Restructuring:
We are in the process of restructuring the bylaws, the Board of Directors and the budgeting process for Norcal Premier Soccer. We have retained a non-profit law firm to assist us in this area. We will announce on January 15th a timeline which outlines how this process will occur in regards to board restructuring, board elections, budgeting processes, budgeting review, administrative and procedural structures.

Front office:
During the beginning of the summer we obtained offices for NorCal Premier Soccer operations. We will announce office hours by January 3rd. This will create a true point of contact for all clubs with questions and issues that need to be addressed on a day to day basis. We would like to discuss this further with the Directors of Club, at our next meeting.

Website:
We will launch phase one of our new website with Demosphere this week. We are very appreciative of the hard work done by our current webmaster but we realized we need a company behind our website rather than a person. The new website will allow for an improved scheduling process, easier communication to clubs, coaches, managers and DOC’s and other functions which will assist us in streamlining the operations surrounding all Norcal Premier Soccer competitions and programs.

Scheduling:
We will no longer have tbd (to be determined games) in the Norcal League Schedules. We have announced specific dates for the upcoming season and once finalized these dates will be the match days. Once the schedules are  announced the teams will have a scheduling period and once the schedule is set the games can’t be changed unless agreed upon by both teams or an act of nature. The scheduling process and timeline will be set immediately after an adjustments are made to the calendar by Norcal Premier Soccer and the DOC’s - no later than Jan 3rd. This will be distributed to all members for review by schedulers at all leagues.  This will help to standardize the scheduling process simplifying this process for all club schedulers.

Competition Rules:
At our next DOC meeting, we will form a committee to oversee a review of all competition rules and recommend any changes. This committee will adopt a clear set of rules as set forth by Norcal Premier.  The committee will further create a rules change process by which clubs can submit change proposals as well as have input into the final changes in keeping with the Norcal philosophy of being an club driven organization.

US Club Soccer:
We have negotiated with US Club Soccer to receive portion of the registration fees back to Norcal Premier Soccer to be invested in Coaches Education, Player Development or other areas. The US Club Soccer Board of Directors will consider this proposal at their January Meetings. We believe there is considerable support for this proposal.

Year Round League Calendar and Regulations:
We have received very valuable feedback about the Year Round League announcement. We would like to have a DOC’s meeting on Wednesday, December 16th at 10:30am at the Danville Mustang Soccer Office to discuss this feedback and agree upon a clear direction forward that addresses this feedback and provides necessary competition for competitive soccer clubs. We are sorry for the short notice but think it vital to address these concerns areas prior to the holiday season.

Norcal Premier Soccer Board Of Directors recognizes and understands the need for a clear organization for all members in the Norcal Soccer Community.  All of the proposed additions and changes above are the result of our vision and direction as we work to become the premier soccer option for all levels of competitive soccer play in Northern California.  Everything listed is the result of hearing the concerns of the clubs and an effort to organize NCPS into a structure that is easy to run and 100% supportive of all participating clubs in Northern California. We want to make sure we continue to provide a forum for the clubs to be heard and involved when changes are made in an effort to achieve everyone’s goal of creating a positive and beneficial soccer experience for all kids.

Thank you very much - Benjamin Ziemer on behalf of the Board of Directors
