U17 Girls NPL Spring Showcase: Preview

U17 GIRLS CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

Just four points separate first place from seventh place in the Girls U17 Champions League, making it almost impossible to say who’s favored to come away with the coveted title this weekend. Of the seven teams, only Livermore (3-1-1) control their destiny, but will likely need two wins to clinch the division as second-place Lamorinda (3-2-0) are currently just one point behind. Diablo FC (2-1-2) currently  are in third place, but after that, things get tricky, with Pleasanton Rage, Blues SC, and West Coast Soccer all sitting with identical 2-2-1 records. Even CV San Jose Earthquakes (1-1-3) aren’t out of it, as a pair of wins by a combined margin of at least four goals and draws across the board in the rest of the matches will give them the title.

U17 GIRLS NPL 1

Matches in the Girls U17 NPL 1 won’t conclude until well after the showcase, but first-place Clovis Crossfire (4-0-0) can clinch the title with a pair of wins on the weekend. The marquee match for the Crossfire comes Sunday at 9:40 a.m., when they take on second-place Force (3-1-0) in a match that should decide the title race. Third-place California Odyssey (2-1-0) are also still in the race, but need to win out and have the Crossfire drop at least two of their last three games in order to claim the title.

U17 GIRLS NPL 2

Two wins over the weekend for first-place Santa Clara Sporting (4-0-0) could be enough to clinch the Girls U17 NPL 2 title, but they’ll need second-place Walnut Creek (3-1-0) to drop points over the weekend to claim the title at the showcase. Should both Sporting and Walnut Creek win both of their weekend games, the title race for this division will be decided in their May 13 match. Third-place California Odyssey (2-1-1) and fifth-place San Juan (2-1-1) are still in the hunt for the title race, but will need to win out and hope for help from other games. Fourth-place San Ramon FC (2-1-2) are likely just fighting for second place at this point, as they’ve played one more game than everyone else in the top four.

U17 GIRLS NPL 3

In probably the oddest of any of the divisions for this weekend’s College Showcase, the Girls U17 NPL 3 has yet to find a winner in any of the five matches that have been played in it. Amazingly, Union Sacramento FC top the table with an 0-0-3 record, edging 0-0-3 Pleasanton Rage on goals scored, while 0-0-2 Palo Alto and 0-0-2 East Bay United are obviously very much still in the title race.
