APL Summer League Champions Crowned
Davis Legacy Soccer Complex
The APL Summer League playoffs took place this past weekend at the Davis Legacy Soccer Complex. The men’s semi final took place on Saturday, with the Davis Legacy APL team winning the first semi 7-0 against Juventus and Tottenham Hotspur winning a 3-0 decision over Monarchas in the other semi.
Sunday saw both the mens and women’s final take place side by side and on the women’s side Sacramento United, using many of the players that had brought them a NorCal State Cup title in May, prevailed 3-1 over North Coast in the APL final. Toree Oliver led the way with a pair of goals and Izabelle Mitra scored the third. Ashley Luis had the lone goal for North Coast.
The men’s final was true classic with twists and turns then a few more twists. Tottenham opened the scoring, Davis equalized, Davis took the lead, Tottenham equalized, Davis took the lead again, Tottenham equalized for 3-3 after 90 minutes. Davis came out strong in the extra time period to finally settle the match 5-3 after 120 minutes. Cyrus Ghaffari of Davis was awarded “Man of the Playoffs,” he finished the weekend with 6 goals.
Congrats to the six clubs that represented the APL in the play off. Applications for the APL Fall will be available shortly.
